a little bit about me

My name is Katy Harkleroad.  I'm a free-lance graphic designer based in Portland, Maine.  My passion is working with individuals and small organizations to create unique and expressive graphics for their marketing needs. 

My background is in studio art, so while I occasionally do corporate work, my aesthetic tends to be more illustrative and therefore suited for clients looking for more of a hand-drawn look.

I'm a big fan of the creative process so whenever possible I like to meet with my clients several times throughout the design process to hear their feedback, share my thoughts, and adjust the designs.  I love to work creatively, but it's really this collaborative process that fuels my designs.

When I'm not designing, I'm probably doing one of my other jobs: teaching cooking lessons, editing books, or helping to maintain the local outdoor trail network.  It's a random assortment, I know.  But it's not nearly as random as my hobbies, which include rock climbing, mountain biking, knitting, and refinishing furniture.
